A quantitative-qualitative methodology was employed in two stages between September and December 2024. The first stage involved in-loco analysis to determine the quantity, composition, and characteristics of waste at IFAL-MD. The second stage included questionnaires for the campus community. Waste characterization and gravimetry were performed across campus sectors to assess current management practices. Results indicated significant generation of rejects (43.7%), organics (25.8%), and recyclables (30.5%). Despite efficient maintenance, the Campus lacks a formal Solid Waste Management Plan, and recycling is inconsistent. The study highlights opportunities for improved waste separation and disposal. Consequently, the institution must adopt measures to enhance solid waste management practices for greater Sustainability.Item Logística reversa na empresa O Boticário: estudo de caso em Alagoas(INSTITUTO FEDERAL DE ALAGOAS - Ifal, 2023-11-08) Oliveira, Lyslaine Saniele Santos da Silva; Santos, Maria do Socorro Ferreira dos; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0910-3607; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1039898435623128; Bastos, Adelmo Lima; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6125212623471598; Lucena, Rodrigo de Melo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6095168056343998Brazil is one of the largest plastic producers in the world, and only 2% of plastics are recycled. On average, in Brazilian cities, solid waste generation is 13.7 million tons, or 64 kilos per person per year. Plastic waste is the most commonly found type of pollutant in the world, accounting for 48.5 percent of the materials that leak into the seas. Around 22 million tons of plastic leak into the environment, such as seas and rivers, as a destination. Concerned about the environment in 1990, Miguel Krigsner, founder of "O Boticário", created the Grupo Boticário Nature Protection Foundation, a non-profit foundation maintained by Grupo Boticário with the mission of promoting and carrying out nature conservation actions. In 2006, "Bote-Recicla" was created, being the largest "Clean packaging" return program in the cosmetics segment in Brazil. In this sense, this research aimed to present how this program positively impacts the environment, especially in Alagoas. To this end, we seek to present the company's direct and indirect actions in our state, highlighting the importance of reverse logistics. From this perspective, we can observe that, by disposing of products correctly, we give the packaging a chance to transform into something that can help not only people in general, but also our planet. Furthermore, it also contributes to the creation of job opportunities for collectors, thus allowing this empty packaging to be full of future.Item Análise do potencial efeito do extrato de urtiga no diâmetro e na altura da planta de milho no Município de Marechal Deodoro, AL(INSTITUTO FEDERAL DE ALAGOAS - Ifal, 2025-04-16) Costa, Maisa de Araujo; Bastos, Adelmo Lima; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6186-8856; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6125212623471598; Madalena, José Antonio da Silva; https://orcid.org/0009-0002-7289-7817; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1301228115317438; Gama, José Aparecido da Silva; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9082-6564; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7413041757828843; Santos, Anselmo Lúcio Aroucha; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8873799404904994; Farias, Vera Nubia Carvalho de; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6223-0942; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3867201737324584Nettle is a plant found in various regions of the world, including Brazil, where it can be found in abundance in the backlands of Alagoas. Some pharmaceutical industries use its extract in the production of drugs, thanks to its rich variety of substances. The objective of this study was to use nettle extract as a potential nutritive agent, capable of stimulating the growth of corn crops. The methodology used was, initially, planting plots of corn, which were sprayed for 75 days; then the aerial part was evaluated by measuring diameter and height, using a caliper. It was found that in the evaluation of plant diameter, in the period of 15 days, the best doses were between 200 and 800 g, and on the other days, the best dose was 200 g. For the height variable, in the 15-day period the best dose was 600 g, but it did not differ statistically from the results presented at 30 days, where the best doses presented were 200 to 600 g. In relation to 45, 60 and 75 days the best dose was 200 g of nettle. Thus, it is concluded that using nettle extract from the 200 g dose onwards caused a reduction, decrease in the diameter and aerial part of the plant.Item Linha do tempo interativa como ferramenta pedagógica para a conservação do Mutum-de-Alagoas (Pauxi mitu Linnaeus, 1766)(INSTITUTO FEDERAL DE ALAGOAS - Ifal, 2024-09-09) Ramos, Laura Assis Ribeiro; Barros, Elaine Cristina Pereira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9152249334248589; Santos, Maria do Socorro Ferreira dos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1039898435623128; Santos, Gilson Oliveira dos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9220817099269462Brazil is a country rich in biodiversity. However, many anthropogenic actions threaten the maintenance of this natural wealth, compromising the balance ecological. In addition, the lack of knowledge regarding the species and their ecological functions further intensifies the concern inherent to the loss of species. Democratizing knowledge about species that have extinction risk is fundamental and urgent to prevent them from being eliminated. Thus, the present work aimed to provide a pedagogical tool, characterized as an interactive timeline, with the potential to enable the future user to know about the species Pauxi mitu, an endemic bird of Alagoas and extinct in nature, popularly known as Alagoas Curassow. The methodology was carried out through several stages. In the first stage of the research, data on Pauxi mitu were collected, such as the first mention of the species, first woodcut, general characteristics, taxonomic classification, habitat, main threats, conservation category of the species, ex situ conservation strategies and reintroduction. In the second stage of the research, the Genially tool was used, which made it possible to assemble the entire structure of the timeline, and the horizontal and historical model was chosen, where its progress is presented from left to right. In a complementary way, as an auxiliary tool for adapting images, the Canva application was used. As a result, an educational product was obtained, defined as an interactive and intuitive timeline, arranged in chronological order, presenting the dates and their respective events and illustrations, and with potential for a future application, which may contribute to a citizen posture in favor of biodiversity conservation.Item Análise da qualidade da água e percepção dos moradores do Conjunto Olival Tenório Costa em Campo Alegre - AL(2023-05-08) Silva, Celso Felipe da; Silva, Dário Luiz Nicácio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1506941694331741; Bastos, Adelmo Lima; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6125212623471598; Gama, José Aparecido da Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7413041757828843Water is a natural resource of great importance for the maintenance of human life and a public good, as described in art. 1 of Law 9433/97 which provides for the National Water Resources Policy. The importance of water is not only related to its functions in nature, but the role it has in health, economy and quality of human life. Water quality is an indispensable aspect when it comes to its main uses, especially for purposes such as human supply and the supply system must favor this aspect. With this, the objective of this study was to carry out an analysis of the water quality of the Conjunto Olival Tenório Costa in Campo Alegre, Alagoas, and to evaluate the functioning of the local supply system through the perception of the local residents. During a period of four weeks, 500ml of water were collected in the eight blocks of the complex, totaling 32 samples in the end, where the physical-chemical analyzes were carried out. In possession of the results obtained through the analyses, the potality standard established by the legislation was detected. In all analyses, it was possible to observe that only in the analysis of the fourth week a pH of 6 was obtained, whereas in the others, below, the values were lower, also having oscillations between the results. Regarding the presence of color, it was found that there was no presence of free residual chlorine in any of the possible analyses. After carrying out the physicalchemical analyzes of the water and noticing some irregularities in the face of the legislation, the objective was also to evaluate the perception of the local residents about the quality of the water and the supply system through a virtual interview via electronic means, where 120 residents participated, and of this number, 75.5% were female. Regarding the quality of the taste of the water that arrives at the residences, 45.8% classified the taste of the water as bad, when asked if the handlers had already witnessed any alteration in the water, 76.7% of them said yes. And finally, 54.2% of those approved classified the supply system as bad. Finally, it is concluded that the water distributed to the population of Conjunto Olival Tenório Costa has already interfered in the issue of health of the inhabitants, and the responsible authority must remain vigilant to possible future health projects.Item Análise da qualidade da água da Laguna Manguaba do Município de Marechal Deodoro - AL(2022-05-02) Rocha, Elenice Melo da; Silva, Dário Luiz Nicácio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1506941694331741; Bastos, Adelmo Lima; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6125212623471598; Gama, José Aparecido da Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7413041757828843The Lagoon Manguaba de Marechal Deodoro, is of great economic value for many families from Deodoro, as it produces a wide variety of aquatic organisms, such as: fish, shellfish and molluscs, which are a source of income and also food for the families of fishermen in the region who depend solely and exclusively on fishing, and have no other means to guarantee the sustenance and survival of their family members. The lagoon has a scenario of exclusive scenic beauty, where we can see on one side a beautiful green landscape composed of a beautiful and extensive mangrove and on the other side a beautiful lagoon edge, with a sports and leisure area, restaurants and snack bars serving dishes of typical foods, made with fish from the Manguaba lagoon, attracting tourists and visitors from various places. These restaurants generate direct and indirect jobs, however, they contribute negatively to the pollution of the lagoon, dumping their contaminating effluents directly into the water, without any form of treatment. There are several sewage and/or filthy tongues along the lagoon edge, being released directly into the Manguaba lagoon, not only from restaurants and bars, but also from other neighborhoods in the municipality. The presence of oil in the discharge of these effluents is notorious. It is also noted the disposal of household waste in the water bodies of the Laguna, such as: Tires, iron, wood, plastic (food packaging and bags), glass (beverage bottles and shards) that are discarded by the population that lives there. passes, or often, through the action of the wind. The objective of this work is this, to analyze, using instruments accessible to the population, environmental parameters that indicate water quality, trying to relate variations in these parameters to sudden changes in water quality in Laguna Manguaba, on the edge of the municipality of Marechal Deodoro.Item Ergonomia verde: uma análise discursiva acerca da aplicabilidade no cenário nacional e regional(2023-05-16) Silva, Ana Karine de Oliveira; Santos, Maria do Socorro Ferreira dos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1039898435623128; Santos, Jullyana Souza; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3580387526192337; Santos, Geraldo Luiz Valle dos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5316292387419022; Lucena, Rodrigo de Melo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6095168056343998Green Ergonomics - EV is an innovative strategy that seeks to ensure the well-being of man and nature in a harmonious way, avoiding the ripple effect in the natural world. Green Ergonomics, as it is known worldwide, emerged from the interdisciplinarity of two disciplines, the first Ergonomics and the second, Sustainability, being applied throughout Europe. In Brazil, there is a certain lack of cultural knowledge about VE, with concrete examples that fit into Green Ergonomics allied to Sustainability. With that, the problem arose: how has Green Ergonomics been applied in the national and regional scenarios? Therefore, the present work aimed to research the relationship between ergonomics and sustainability in order to conceptualize the Green Ergonomics theme in a concise way, bringing it to our reality. This research is classified as bibliographic, based on an article published in Brazil and data provided by the certifiers Vanzolini and GBC Brazil in the form of spreadsheets, to contribute to the mapping process. The tabulation of the data occurred in 4 moments, and in each one of them the analysis of the information was carried out. The first, a survey of data at the national level, separating the data by classifications, and the second, at the regional level. However, there is a lack of research that can make the composting process feasible, given the great variety of organic waste produced, as well as the awareness of society in separating and correctly disposing of solid waste. In this sense, the present work aimed to evaluate the behavior of temperature between two treatments, containing organic waste (fruits and vegetables) and tanned sawdust, in different concentrations of material rich in carbon (tanned sawdust), until the mesophilic phase of cooling, using two compositions of different organic materials, in two home composting tanks for each composition. The results obtained from the thermal behavior of home composting, indicated similar results, from the beginning to the end of the composting, with temperature ranges that did not exceed 50°C, where the composters 1AGM and 2AGM, remained at temperatures of 27 to 34°C and the composters 3AM and 4AM with similar ranges of 28 to 33°C, which may be associated with the interference of external factors (wind and rain) and the volume of organic material composted.Item Gestão ambiental em usinas sucroalcooleiras : certificações e suas repercussões na sustentabilidade(Instituto Federal de Educação Ciência e Tecnologia de Alagoas, 2023-06-14) Santos, Eleandro Dos; Santos, Geraldo Luiz Valle dos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5316292387419022; Lucena, Rodrigo de Melo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6095168056343998; Bastos, Adelmo Lima; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6125212623471598The sugar-alcohol industry in Brazil has lately been strong in the market, because it has come to have a great importance for the growth of the country's economy, by generating numerous job opportunities directly and indirectly in the regions, thus providing more income. Most of the regions in Brazil are mostly sugarcane production, and from it there are also other types of products generated, such as energy, ethanol and biogas. But in the face of all this production that is possible through the use of natural resources, society has observed the need to reduce impacts on the environment, since sugarcane is a major source of production, and with this the industries were forced to worry about these issues that involve, in their production, sustainability, so that there is no aggression to the environment. From this the companies of the sugar-alcohol industry were willing to seek a new form of production, and the certifications come precisely to contribute in this process, guiding and leading to follow a whole series of new standards respecting norms, laws and guidelines with regard to the environment, thus raising an environmental preservation and a sustainable development. Thus, the objective of this research was to perform an analysis of the repercussions caused by the adoption of environmental certifications, comparing to environmental certifications in the sugar and alcohol sector, restricting only to Bonsucro and ISO 14001 certifications, taking into account two plants in the state of Alagoas. As a methodology used, a bibliographic survey was carried out, with the application of questionnaires to verify the perception of managers/professionals responsible for the environmental management of sugarcane and alcohol mills. Two plants were selected for the study, one certified and the other not certified. It was concluded that, from the analysis of the questionnaire, the main repercussions are: compliance with applicable and regulatory legislation, control and reduction of environmental impacts, efficient production, greater relationship with stakeholders, image and reputation improvements and access to new markets and businesses.Item Um estudo de caso sobre o saneamento básico no Distrito de Miai de Baixo no município de Coruripe - AL(Instituto Federal de Educação Ciência e Tecnologia de Alagoas, 2023-06-21) Santos, Welder Melo dos; Bastos, Adelmo Lima; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6125212623471598; Silva Filho, Jorge Ferreira da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9595994751143801; Santos, Maria do Socorro Ferreira dos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1039898435623128This research addresses basic sanitation as essential for people's quality of life, in this way, its lack or mismanagement, causes damage to health, quality of life, well-being of people and also contributes to the degradation of the environment. For the construction of this study, the didactic material was used as a descriptive methodological basis through the analysis of the content of the chosen books. Through the analysis of the books we can perceive the importance of a good and evaluated material because it will accompany the student for a year, where experiences and knowledge will be acquired. Through the analysis, it was possible to perceive the importance of the environmental theme and that, despite bringing important texts and reflections, it is treated in a disjointed way without the interdisciplinary look and the proper connection with the local reality, thus bringing a deficit in the use of the material used.Item Um diagnóstico do sistema de esgotamento sanitário do município de Boca da Mata - AL(Instituto Federal de Educação Ciência e Tecnologia de Alagoas, 2023-06-21) Silva, Thalita Maria da; Silva Filho, Jorge Ferreira da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9595994751143801; Santos, Maria do Socorro Ferreira dos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1039898435623128; Bastos, Adelmo Lima; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6125212623471598Sanitary sewage is a service that aims to properly dispose of liquid effluents to prevent diseases arising from sanitation deficit, as well as to prevent environmental pollution while preserving the health of water resources, since water is essential for maintaining life on the planet. Knowing the impacts caused by the activities, a study was conducted to recover the history of this closure, due to the situation in which the necessary infrastructure was found for the correct disposal of the effluents generated, the waste is thrown directly into the Ipanema River, leading to bad smells, the turbidity of the water and the death of flora and fauna. After the intervention of the Integrated Preventive Inspection (FPI), the municipality and the health surveillance, the meat market was closed because they were not in compliance with the health surveillance standards and the commerce around the river (where due to human intervention building houses to border, a flood ended up causing the destruction of several houses) also causing harm due to the withdrawal of resources along with the disposal of effluents and the poor hygiene conditions of the place. The methodology used for the present study was descriptive and exploratory in nature. Initially with bibliographical research and, in the second stage, research on news related to the fact on reliable websites and an interview with the environmental secretary at the time, finally, we sought to identify the current reality of the market and its changes. The results of the study indicate that slaughterhouses carry out activities that generate a large volume of organic matter, making it essential for inappropriate disposal, given that the negative environmental impacts arising from such activity directly affect the well-being, health, population as well as one all. It is important to think that public authorities become indispensable in this process, being able to work with environmental education projects and that it must start from an early age at home, as well as providing opportunities for discussions of new forms, new projects and technologies for the adequate management of this activity, as well asthe implementation that ensures the appropriate disposal of the effluents in question.
