Unfortunately, some students find the literary works proposed by teachers in basic education outdated, due to the fact that their publication date is far from their reality, however, what they must understand is that literature serves as the basis for many issues in society current, just look at it critically, and so, with this work we intend to demystify this view, and we also intend to take an approach focused on teaching, so that the student is led to understand the root of prejudice, thus making a bridge between: history, work and current events, after this reflection the student will put into practice the discussions so that the reading seen as old and old, will now be alive and active, also in modern society. Therefore, we will base this work on the theories of Bosi (2015); Cândido (1999) and in Paiva's research (2016).Item A leitura e interdisciplinaridade no ensino de língua inglesa(Instituto Federal de Educação Ciência e Tecnologia de Alagoas, 2020-06-19) Magalhaes, Antonio Carlos de; Souza, Adriana Nunes de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9445221981244067Even with the advent of the new information and communication technologies, which provided access to the internet and new forms of knowledge search, by a considerable number of citizens, the practice of reading still stands out as of great importance for its formation. In an effort to supplant pedagogical practices that contribute to a better development of reading in the classroom and to a critical and transformative linguistic education, the qualitative bibliographic research involves a work considered a landmark of the literary movement of Naturalism. Theoretical studies were based, mainly on: Azevedo (1990); Goffredo (2016); Precious (2011); Rocha (2016). It is concluded that it is possible to promote reading practices in the teaching-learning of literature, developing from this a critical view about the predicted and unforeseen consequences of racism.
