It is a qualitative research of descriptive and exploratory nature, based on a case study. Data collection techniques included bibliographic research, document analysis, and direct observation of the association’s activities. The results show that ASCAMARE significantly contributes to reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills, promotes environmental education, and generates income through the productive inclusion of waste pickers. The formalization of the partnership with the public authorities strengthened solid waste management and was recognized with the Sebrae Entrepreneurial Municipality Award. Community mobilization and educational campaigns reinforced local environmental awareness. It is concluded that the experience of Coruripe constitutes a model of sustainability, by articulating environmental preservation, social inclusion, and institutional responsibility.Item Comitê da bacia da região hidrográfica do rio Piauí: o processo de educação ambiental e envolvimento da comunidade(Instituto Federal de Educação Ciência e Tecnologia de Alagoas, 2023-12-20) Araujo, Maria Elza Messias Soares de; Gama, José Aparecido da Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7413041757828843; Santos, Gilson Oliveira dos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9220817099269462; Dias, Sheyla Karine Barbosa de Macêdo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2777322313238567This article presents a discussion regarding the impacts of environmental education actions developed by the Piauí River Basin Committee, Alagoas, and its impact on the local community. The work was prepared based on a bibliographical survey in books, scientific articles, dissertations and theses, as well as through documentary analysis in Minutes of Committee meetings and reports obtained during field visits to schools, departments and institutions, in order to identify which were the actions in environmental education and how they occurred. Based on these procedures, we sought to reflect on the process of environmental education and community involvement with the aim of contributing to a theoretical- methodological discussion of the environmental education actions developed by the Committee, incorporating the public sphere as a stage for actions of environmental education. The perception obtained is that the Piauí River Committee treats environmental education actions based on problematizing the relationship between the local community and water resources. However, despite having formed a partnership with some institutions, it has difficulties in carrying out its environmental education actions due to the lack of support from municipal managers and other component institutions in the basin, which interferes with the protection of water resources and distances the community from the spaces of discussion and decision.Item Diversidade florística e fitofisionomia de remanescentes da área de proteção ambiental (APA) da Marituba do Peixe, Alagoas(INSTITUTO FEDERAL DE ALAGOAS - Ifal, 2025-02-13) Souza, Maria Helena Nascimento de; Lemos, Rosangela Pereira de Lyra; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3762389142515103; Souza, Éder Júnior Cruz de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8274192101455755; Santandrea, Ana Claudia Garcia de Medeiros; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2094813184613286; Romero, Renato de Mei; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9857771457585862The study aimed to conduct a floristic survey and describe the phytophysiognomies present in the region of the Marituba do Peixe APA, located on the southern coast of the state of Alagoas. The work aimed to identify the species that make up the local vegetation and to describe the phytophysiognomies. To carry out this study, geographic data and samples from the region deposited in the herbarium collections were analyzed, in addition to collections made in remnants of the study area. The research resulted in obtaining data on the vegetation and phytogeography of the region, including species habits, distribution, phytophysiognomonic types, conservation level, and the record of endemic and endangered species. For the floristic listing, 397 species were recorded, distributed in 104 botanical families. The most representative families were Fabaceae (41 species), Rubiaceae (21 species), Myrtaceae and Cyperaceae (20 species each). Among the cataloged species, 43 are new records for the state of Alagoas, while 13 species are categorized as threatened. Several taxa are endemic to the Northeast region. All the data identified demonstrate the importance of conserving the study area for the protection of these plants.Item O papel de transformação da educação ambiental no âmbito escolar : um estudo de caso no município de Campo Alegre - AL(Instituto Federal de Educação Ciência e Tecnologia de Alagoas, 2023-08-23) Freitas, Kahoma Cristina de Melo; Machado, Fabiano Duarte; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2063267245239005; Teles, Rikartiany Cardoso; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0327790201297951; Cruz, Rennisy Rodrigues; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9301577797069422; Santos, Maria do Socorro Ferreira dos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1039898435623128This work shows the importance of working on environmental education in basic education. The objective is to present a brief history of the sururu production chain in the Mundaú-Manguaba lagoon complex in the state of Alagoas, and to prospect the segments where the calcium carbonate extracted from sururu shells is being used in industry. It also aims to inform readers about products manufactured using the solid waste from this mollusk. For the methodology, bibliographic searches as well as scientific articles published in the last ten years and interviews with a regional NGO coordinator and leaders who work directly with the local fishing community were conducted. It was found that the shells are used in areas such as civil construction for the manufacture of blocks, cobogós, asphalt, and concretes; in agriculture as fertilizers; in the pharmaceutical industry as a calcium-based supplement, among others. Thus, given the challenges faced by the fishermen and the cultural and economic importance of the activity, there is a clear need for measures that promote better working conditions and value this important production chain. Advances in research and innovation focused on the full use of the sururu echo as a promising strategy to mitigate environmental impacts and create new income opportunities. Therefore, investing in the technological transformation of the sururu represents not only a way to add value to the product but also to strengthen sustainability and the dignity of the work of the communities involved.
