Item Análise das fontes e impactos da poluição atmosférica em Penedo-AL(2025) Santos, Natália Rodrigues dos; Lenz, Tiago de Moraes; Pinheiro, Pablo; Fontenele, Thaline Luize Ribeiro; Lenz, Tiago de MoraesThis study aims to identify the main sources of air pollution in the municipality of Penedo-AL and assess their impacts on human health and the local environment. The research adopted a qualitative approach, combining a literature review with a semi-structured questionnaire applied to the Municipal Secretariat of Environment and Water Resources (SEMARH). The results indicate that the primary sources of air pollution are the sugarcane industry and agricultural burning, which lead to air quality degradation, damage to vegetation, and contamination of soil and water. Respiratory problems are the most common health impacts. SEMARH monitors pollution through public complaints, employing educational measures and fines for repeated offenses. However, the absence of regular awareness campaigns about burning was noted. The study recommends creating green areas, strengthening environmental enforcement, and promoting the use of cleaner public transportation, alongside the adoption of renewable energy sources. Environmental education and strict law enforcement are essential to improving the quality of life in the municipality and ensuring a sustainable future.Item Proliferação da planta aquática baronesa no rio São Francisco(2024) Santos, Marcos Vinícius Bonfim; Lenz, Tiago Moraes; Lenz, Tiago Moraes; Lima, Maria Lílian de Freitas; Pinheiro, PabloBaronesa (Echornia sp) is an aquatic macrophyte that serves as a bioindicator and natural shelter for various organisms, playing a crucial role in maintaining the natural balance of aquatic ecosystems. Its rapid proliferation can be a relevant indicator of water quality, especially in areas impacted by sewage discharge. This study aimed to investigate the main causes of water hyacinth proliferation along the banks of the São Francisco River, in Penedo, Alagoas, Brazil. The research was conducted through the analysis of scientific articles, field observations, and rainfall data. The findings indicated that the aquatic plant tends to proliferate more during flood periods, particularly in areas with sewage discharge, highlighting the lack of effective measures by the authorities. The study proposes actions such as the construction of sewage collection systems, proper waste treatment, and manual maintenance of the plants, involving riverside communities to mitigate negative impacts. These actions are aimed at improving the quality of life of the region’s inhabitants, promoting environmental conservation and sustainability.
