By addressing the need to understand how literature aimed at young audiences contributes to cognitive and emotional development, this research situates itself within the educational context, aiming to explore how children's and young adult literature can effectively promote critical reading among youth. Methodologically, a qualitative approach was adopted. The findings underscored the crucial role of children's and young adult literature as a mediator in identity construction and in fostering critical reflection among young readers. The study emphasizes the urgent need for more effective integration of literary works into educational environments, recognizing their transformative potential in contemporary society. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of fostering critical reading from childhood, acknowledging literature as an essential ally in shaping reflective and conscientious individuals. ––With theoretical contributions from Rildo Cosson, Bernard Charlot, Lígia Cademartori, Regina Zilberman, and Marisa Lajolo, this understanding reinforces the significance of valuing and integrating children and young adult’s literature into pedagogical practices, thereby contributing to the holistic development of emerging readers.Item Ponciá Vivêncio e O papel de parede amarelo: diálogos e limites entre as protagonistas femininas(2024-12-13) Sapucaia, Ariane Regina Ribeiro; Barbosa, Cleusa Salvina Ramos Maurício; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7243836316721979; Santos, Elaine Cristina Rapôso dos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0758592442310125; Silva, Amaro Hélio Leite da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0318967074428573This paper analyzes the trajectories of the main characters in Charlotte Gilman's The Yellow Wallpaper (2020) and Conceição Evaristo's Ponciá Vicêncio (2017), based on studies of female protagonism and relations of subalternity. We began by considering the themes relating to the suffering of women in the narratives. By proposing a general analysis of each story, and how the instruments used by the authors when constructing the fictional universes present convergent and divergent points linked to the processes of male chauvinist oppression, the deprivations suffered by female beings in a patriarchal society and how these issues develop in relationships with other characters, the plot, space and time. For this study, we adopted the theoretical assumptions of Antonio Candido to deal with the fictional character, literature and society; Cíntia Schwantes on the elements relating to the voices of madness present in the historical elaboration within the literature of female authorship; Conceição Evaristo on the approach to Escrevivência, as well as her own formative path; Elaine Hedges on the elements relating to the discussions that are proposed in Gilman's work. We also used other documentary sources such as magazine articles, annals, theses and book chapters to discuss the socio- historical issues surrounding female-authored narratives.Item Problematização do Cânone Literário: perspectiva anti-patriarcal e discussão sobre o apagamento da literatura de autoria feminina no currículo escolar(Instituto Federal de Educação Ciência e Tecnologia de Alagoas, 2023-06-15) Silva, Hyalle Jaynne; Barbosa, Cleusa Salvina Ramos Maurício; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7243836316721979; Santos, Fábio José dos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7569516305566259; Cavalcanti, Ricardo Jorge de Sousa; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2706881213553955The literary canon is a collection of works officially recognized for their excellence and cultural importance. Its construction is a historical process that reflects the choices and values of commonly dominant groups. As a result, the canon often excludes works written by marginalized groups, including women. This erasure of female writers has influenced the development of the school curriculum and limited young people's exposure to these authors and their works. In Brazil, the literary canon is dominated by male writers, with little representation of literary works authored by women. This lack of representation directly affects education in the country, limiting exposure to literature written by women. This work addresses the influence of the patriarchal literary canon on the approach to literature written by women in school. Through bibliographic research, we sought to discuss how the erasure of Brazilian female writers from the canon influences the development of the basic education curriculum and, consequently, limits students' exposure to these writers. Among the results, it is evident that the approach to literature written by women in school is fundamental to building an egalitarian and inclusive education. It is important that Brazilian female writers are introduced to students so they can identify with their stories, be inspired by their journeys, and understand the richness and diversity of literature produced by women. The inclusion of these works in the school curriculum is important not only to ensure representation in literature but also to expand students' perspectives and promote diversity.
