    O ensino de ciências como estratégia para mitigação de doenças transmitidas por alimentos no ambiente escolar

    This paper presents an analysis of students' level of knowledge about Foodborne Diseases (FBDs) and food hygiene practices in the school environment. The overall objective of this research was to analyze how science education can prevent and mitigate the risks of FBDs in the school environment. To this end, an exploratory research methodology was used, focusing on data collection from questionnaires provided to students and teachers, as well as a review of materials covering the topic. The results showed that the science education at the school in question does not comprehensively address the prevention of FBDs and that there is a lack of teaching materials that support the topic. It is concluded that it is necessary to develop the topic in the school environment through curricular activities that ensure students' knowledge and critical analysis, as well as the promotion of new research and campaigns that address the prevention of FBDs, reinforcing the need for educational policies that integrate health and the formal curriculum in a continuous manner.
