2026-03-242026-03-242025-09-09https://repositorio.ifal.edu.br/handle/123456789/1442This study analyzes the work of the Association of Recyclable Material Collectors of São José (ASCAMARE) and the Selective Collection System in the municipality of Coruripe-AL, with an emphasis on its environmental and social impacts. It is a qualitative research of descriptive and exploratory nature, based on a case study. Data collection techniques included bibliographic research, document analysis, and direct observation of the association’s activities. The results show that ASCAMARE significantly contributes to reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills, promotes environmental education, and generates income through the productive inclusion of waste pickers. The formalization of the partnership with the public authorities strengthened solid waste management and was recognized with the Sebrae Entrepreneurial Municipality Award. Community mobilization and educational campaigns reinforced local environmental awareness.
