Biodiesel, an alternative to fossil diesel, is widely recognized for its environmental, economic and social potential. The use of microalgae in biodiesel production has emerged as a promising solution due to the high productivity of biomass and the ability of these algae to absorb CO₂. The literature review analyzed the production methods, including transesterification, the technological challenges, such as the cost of cultivation and extraction, and the environmental advantages.
