It is estimated that 1.35 million people die every year as a result of traffic accidents, being the main cause of death for young adults. Technological advancement, combined with the capacity to generate a large volume of data, allows an analysis of such phenomena and their causes. Thus, the present work brings to light an approach to the main causes of Traffic Accidents - AT, on Federal Highways throughout Brazil, using official data from the Federal Highway Police Department - DPRF, the open database - DATATRAN. The present study was structured based on a Systematic Literature Review - RSL and the use of a set of tools for data processing, together with Business Intelligence - BI techniques, in order to extract relevant information, assisting in decision-making. users of federal highways.
