In the context of artisanal fishing, environmental education contributes to the formation of critical and independent individuals. Artisanal fishing is a type of exploitation of fishing resources, it is done in a simple way with family labor and small boats. This type of exploitation, when carried out in a disorderly manner, can generate an environmental problem, such as the loss of biodiversity, which emphasizes the importance of environmental education in fishing. Thus, the objective of this work was to develop a booklet with easy-to-understand language on the importance of environmental education in fishing, focusing on conservation and preservation of the environment, for riverside dwellers and fishermen in the municipality of Penedo/AL. To this end, the work followed the steps: characterization of the study area and target audience; bibliographical research and definition of the topics covered in the booklet; preparation of the booklet. The target audience for the booklet are fishermen and riverside dwellers. It is noteworthy that these fishermen are not always found in riverside communities, and may be in quilombola communities, in conservation units, associated or not with fishing colonies.
