The absence of urban planning and the disorder of population growth cause an increase in demand for water resources, and as a consequence, the production of effluents and pollution of water courses. The study exposes the performance of Brazilian legislation over the last decades until the New Sanitation Legal Framework (Law nº 14,026/2020).
