2026-02-232026-02-232025-06-26https://repositorio.ifal.edu.br/handle/123456789/1396This work aims to develop a preliminary project for a reading environment for children from public elementary schools in the city of Maceió-AL. For the development, it was necessary to understand the importance and contribution of the interior design for the reading room environment, for the improvement of the quality of teaching in institutions, in order to relate the interior design of the school environment to learning and to the stimulation of the reading habit, using playfulness and ergonomic comfort to create this environment, in order to promote childhood and the reading habit. The design approach was subdivided into methodological stages, consisting of: bibliographic studies, to understand the topic of children's learning and the school environment; and, case study, in which an analysis was carried out on the school reading room environment to obtain requirements for the specific project of this type of environment, as well as the application of the Interior Design project methodology, for project conception of children's reading room at study level preliminary project. It is concluded that the children's reading room “Forest of Knowledge” represents an effective strategy to promote the integral development of children, by combining playful and spatial elements. The project demonstrated that it is possible to create a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment that promotes autonomy, creativity and belonging.
