Item Segurança alimentar e influência da mídia no contexto cultural(2025) Siqueira, Ana Bolena de Luna; Fontenele, Thaline Luize Ribeiro; Fontenele, Thaline Luize Ribeiro; Gomes, Carlos Marcelo Maciel; Oliveira, Flávia Gabrielle Pereira deThe term "culture," although broadly defined, can be defined as the set of traditions, beliefs, and customs of a given social group that are passed down through generations. Typical foods are elements that enhance regional culture, perpetuate family culinary memories, and offer economic benefits for both industry and local commerce. Eating habits are formed over time and can be influenced by culture, which primarily stems from the family environment. This culture can be influenced by beliefs and superstitions, or influenced by information from advertisements featuring foods whose consumption satisfies media-created needs, regardless of the implications for people's health. The objective of this research was to investigate the historical, cultural, and media-related elements that influence diet. The study was conducted through bibliographic research of publications from the last 10 years, including scientific articles, regulatory documents, and newspaper and magazine websites. It was observed that dietary changes have been occurring culturally, resulting in the loss of cultural identity and gradually favoring the development of chronic noncommunicable diseases and eating disorders, exacerbating food insecurity. It is concluded that the media, and the length of exposure to it, influences food choices, bringing about changes and impacting eating patterns and culture.
