    Upcycling como ferramenta de educação ambiental: uma experiência extensionista na feira livre de Marechal Deodoro - AL

    This report presents upcycling, the creative transformation of discarded materials into products of greater aesthetic, functional, or economic value, and demonstrates both its theoretical foundations and practical application as a tool for critical Environmental Education. Based on an extension activity carried out at the open-air market of Marechal Deodoro, Alagoas, the intervention consisted of producing ecological bags (ecobags) using reused animal-feed sacks, aiming to encourage conscious consumption and reduce plastic waste at the market. The methodology included a participatory diagnosis, the production and distribution of the ecobags, and the creation and dissemination of a video tutorial on YouTube. The results revealed strong community receptivity, interest in learning the technique, and potential for income generation, as well as significant engagement with the video. It is concluded that upcycling supports sustainable practices, enhances social participation, and contributes to the development of an environmentally responsible culture.
